have a good thanksgiving...

today is the american thanksgiving holiday. i'm waiting for my parents to get ready and then we'll go up to apopka to my dad's mom& stepdad's house. (they're the wyoming relatives but they come down here nov.-april). So happy thanksgiving ya'll...
what's thanksgiving like in canada? just curious...like why do you even have one? no pilgrims...how can you be thankful?
down here we eat alot of food, watch football, play football, track dirt in the house, get together with all of your relatives and have a blast talking too loud and laughing at eachother. And if you're Christians, then hopefully you take some time to thank God for the blessings He's given you, and maybe thank some people. This year I'm thankful for alot of friendships didn't have last year: like the Sczebels and Cairneys in Canada, the Cornfields in Corning, New York; and others I've met here in Fl.

outishness...

They probably celebrate it pretty similair to how we do.

We celebrate it exactly like you guys do. I don't know why though. I was told once that we celebrate it for the same reason except that since winter comes earlier in Canada the pilgrims would have had Thanksgiving earlier in the fall than their American friends. So we have it in october rather than november. And we don't watch or play football. Well actually we did once, but I think it was a random thing.

Well happy Thanksgiving - American version.

Hey I just thought of something. Why do Canadians call you guys americans? I mean even though that word is in your country's name it's also the name of the continent of which Canada is a part. So technically we are all Americans. even the Mexicans. and is Greenland part of North America? I never thought of that. But I don't really like calling myself an American. I prefer canadian. no particular reason. just sounds more patriotic which is also dumb because I'm not very patriotic at all.

What else would they call us?

I didn't know people called us anything other than Americans... It would be kind of creepy to figure out that everybody else (outside of America) called us something completely different.

Hahahah. That would be funny.

hahahah well canadains use "american" and "hoser" quite interchangebly; so i wouldn't be surprised to find out other people called us strange things...haha
